Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day, dear Dad.

I love you and am so thankful for you. You have always been there for me, encouraged me, protected me, guided me, and loved me. You taught me to pitch and to swing a bat, to play Risk and Canasta, to love books and science fiction, to hate UGA and the Mets, and to love fried chicken and computers. You have modeled so many good qualities for me, such as courage, humility, kindness, promptness, gentleness, patience, and loyalty. But above all, you raised me to know what it means to truly be a child of God. I am so blessed to be able to say that you have taught me about the Lord my entire life, I can’t remember a time when you did not teach me the faith. Some of my earliest memories are of us sitting at the kitchen table and you reading to me from the Bible and explaining it to me. That and homeschooling me were the best gifts you could have given me, and I appreciate them more and more every day. I am so glad God made you my earthly father.

Thank you for being my daddy. I love you.

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7
